Doctor-led assessment

Preventative Health & Well Person Assessments

Preventative health is a core part of what we do. Our Well Person assessments take a detailed look at your current health and future risk, with particular focus on cardiovascular and metabolic health, followed by a clear, personalised plan.

Appointments

Doctor-led

Well Person assessment

A comprehensive, doctor-led preventative health assessment combining medical and family history, examination, cardiovascular and metabolic risk assessment, detailed blood testing and appropriate screening, followed by a personalised review of your results and long-term health plan.

45-60 minutes

Well Child clinic

Assessment for children aged 0 to 16, with examination and investigations tailored to age and development.

What we look at

Heart & vascular health

Assessment of cardiovascular risk including blood pressure, heart rhythm, cholesterol and other relevant cardiovascular markers, considered alongside medical and family history.

Metabolic health

Assessment of blood glucose control, weight and other markers of metabolic health, helping identify risk before conditions such as diabetes become established.

Cancer & early disease prevention

Age-, sex- and risk-appropriate screening, which may include bowel cancer screening, prostate assessment in men and other investigations guided by personal and family history.

Liver, kidney & blood health

Blood and urine testing to assess areas including liver and kidney function, anaemia, iron status and general blood health.

Doctor-led preventative review

The results are not looked at in isolation. They are brought together with medical history, family history, lifestyle, examination and individual risk to create a personalised plan.

How your Well Person assessment works

  1. 01

    Before your appointment

Before attending, we send you a detailed health questionnaire covering your medical and family history, medications, lifestyle and any particular health concerns you would like us to explore.

  2. 02

    Your initial assessment

Your first appointment is with our nurse and includes height and weight, BMI, blood pressure, blood tests, urine testing and an ECG. You will also be given a stool test kit to complete at home and return to the clinic. This checks for tiny amounts of blood that may not be visible, and our nurse will explain how to complete it.

  3. 03

    Your doctor-led review

Once your results are available, you return for a dedicated one-hour GP consultation. We review your questionnaire, medical and family history and results together, carry out a clinical examination, explain what the findings mean in context and agree any appropriate next steps. The aim is to leave you with a clear understanding of your health and a personalised plan, rather than simply a collection of test results.

Common questions

Do I need to prepare for my assessment?

Yes. We will send you a health questionnaire to complete beforehand and you will usually be asked to attend your first appointment fasted for 8 to 12 hours. Plain water is encouraged. Please avoid caffeine and nicotine that morning. If you have diabetes, take medication that needs to be taken with food, or are unsure whether fasting is suitable for you, please contact us beforehand.

Why do I complete a questionnaire beforehand?

Your health is more than a set of test results. The questionnaire helps us understand your medical and family history, medications, lifestyle, exercise, diet, sleep, stress, current symptoms and any particular concerns so that the assessment can be tailored to you.

What happens at my first appointment?

Your initial appointment includes physical measurements, blood pressure, blood tests, urine testing and an ECG. You will also be given a stool test kit to complete at home and return to the clinic.

What happens once my results are back?

You return for a dedicated GP review, usually around two weeks later. Your results are considered alongside your questionnaire and medical history, explained in context and used to build an individual plan for prevention, follow-up or any further investigation that may be appropriate.

Is this just a blood test?

No. Blood testing is only one part of the assessment. The purpose is to bring together your history, family risk, lifestyle, symptoms, examination and investigation results to build a broader picture of your current and future health.

Will private health insurance cover it?

Some private health insurance policies provide cover for preventative health assessments. This varies by insurer and policy, so patients should confirm their individual cover before booking.
